Reminiscing about things is always best around coffee. Last week, I met with my friend who came back from the States to talk about things that happened while she was away. She suggested we get coffee from a place nearby, and that's how we ended up trying Crostatina Patisserie and Cafe in Madison's Place at Hillsborough, Alabang. It was kind of new so not a lot of people were around when we were there, which was actually perfect for catching up with friends.

We ordered French Press Coffee (Php 85.00). It was served in a press pot (Merlior) that came with a mini-timer so you'd know when it's safe enough to press the coffee down. I also like the presentation of the mug, milk, brown sugar, and small cookie on the wooden board. I particularly like how the wooden board/tray is personalized! Honestly, it's my first time getting coffee in this form so if my friend didn't tell me what to do, I wouldn't know how to drink this at all. In line with this, I think it would be helpful if Crostatina provided a tutorial (brochure or a small poster) on how to drink French Press Coffee for first timers.

We were still full so we just ordered one of their pastries, the Orange Pistachio Pavlova (Php 85.00). Pavlova is basically just meringue in cake form and is usually accompanied by fruits. I like this, it wasn't too sweet, just light, fluffy, and crispy - exactly like how meringue should be! But my favorite part is actually the orange bits, it made sure this dessert won't be overwhelming. I'm used to pairing coffee with cake or cookies but this was a nice twist than my usual go-to!

I like how the coffee place looked like - clean and accommodating. The staff is nice and helpful. They also have other kinds of food (in case you get hungry and pastries just don't sound enough).Aside from the coffee, they have soft drinks, Crosta iced tea, Crosta juice, and Dilmah Premium Teas in the beverages section. Pastries, food and beverages range from Php 25.00 to Php 340.00, more affordable compared to other coffee places! I'll probably be back to taste the other food they offer but I definitely recommend this place for people looking for a quiet place with good coffee. :)
